Service Description

From around 6 to 18/24 months, dogs go through their adolescent "teenage" phase. Much like human teenagers, they can be challenging, full of energy, and at times seem to forget everything they once knew. This is completely normal - and with the right support, it can also be a time of huge progress. Why training during this stage matters Adolescence is when many dogs are rehomed or develop long-term behaviour struggles. Hormones, growth, and newfound independence can make them push boundaries and test patience. By investing in training now, you're giving your dog the tools to become a calm, reliable adult - and saving yourself years of frustration. Common Teenage Dog Challenges You may notice your dog: * Ignoring recall and pretending they've "gone deaf" * Pulling harder on the lead than ever before * Jumping up or greeting over-enthusiastically * Becoming more distracted by people, dogs, or scents * Forgetting previously learned behaviours These are not signs of failure. They're signs your dog needs guidance, structure, and positive reinforcement. What You'll Gain in Training * Reliable recall - even around distractions * Loose leash walking - without the pulling battles * Calm greetings - with people and dogs * Focus and Engagement - teaching your dog that you're worth paying attention to * Impulse Control - helping them think before they act * Confidence Building - reducing frustration and stress for both of you Why Train With Me? I use positive reinforcement methods, with science based training. Sessions are fun, kind and effective. You'll leave each session with clear steps to practice at home. My goal is not only to train your dog, but to give You the tools and confidence to enjoy life with your companion. The Payoff With consistency, patience, and guidance, your "teenage" dog will mature into a well-balanced adult. You'll build a stronger bond, enjoy calmer walks, and feel proud of how far you've both come. In home training may incur a $20 travel surcharge (e.g Bargara/Innes Park/Burnett Heads/Moore Park Beach) Your dog will need: A flat collar and/or a well-fitting harness. A standard leash. I do not advocate the use of check chains, prong collars or e-collars. Please wear suitable footwear, such as trainers - no thongs or slides.

At Working Wonders Dog Training, I value your time and commitment — just as I value mine. Consistency is key to your dog’s progress, and clear communication helps us make the most of every session together. Cancellations and Rescheduling • If you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson, please send a text message to 0418 279 009 as soon as possible. • At least 24 hours’ notice is required for all cancellations. • Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur the full session fee. Inclement Weather • If a session needs to be cancelled due to severe weather conditions, there will be no charge. • I’ll contact you if the weather is unsuitable for training and arrange a rescheduled time. Arriving on Time • Please aim to arrive a few minutes early so we can start promptly. • Sessions will finish at the scheduled time even if you arrive late, as other clients may be booked immediately afterwards. Health and Safety • Please let me know if your dog or anyone in your household is unwell or has a contagious condition (canine or human!). • Safety for both people and dogs is my top priority — if conditions are unsafe to proceed, I reserve the right to end a session early or reschedule. Consistency and Progress • Training works best with regular attendance and ongoing practice between sessions. • I’ll provide written notes or homework sheets so you can continue working on your dog’s skills at home.
