Service Description

We often expect a lot from our dogs. No matter the breed, we want them to fit neatly into our lifestyles, be sociable, “obedient,” and do what we ask when we ask. But unless a dog truly understands what’s expected, it becomes a guessing game. When they get it wrong, it’s usually the dog who gets the blame. My role is to help you move past frustration by asking the important question: “Why does my dog do this?” Once we understand the why, we can teach the how—practical, positive strategies to change behaviour. By setting dogs up for success instead of failure, we can make real, lasting progress. Together, we’ll work on: * Developing realistic expectations for your dog * Reading canine body language with confidence * Understanding environmental triggers and releasing stimuli * Re-shaping unwanted behaviours such as: * fear or reactivity * poor recall * alarm barking * chewing * resource guarding * toileting issues * pulling on the lead * and many more everyday struggles What to Expect * Personalised 1:1 training with a Certified Family Dog Mediator Sessions can take place in your home, at a suitable outdoor location, or at my premises. (A $20 travel surcharge may apply depending on location) * Comprehensive first session We’ll begin with a detailed questionnaire to understand your dog, their environment, and your current strategies. This first meeting will last longer than a standard session. * Structured sessions Each subsequent session runs for 1 hour, fully reward-based and always paced to your dog’s comfort. Stress directly affects learning, so we prioritise creating a calm, supportive environment. * Clear guidance and homework At the end of each session, you’ll leave with a clear plan, practical steps to follow, and the knowledge you need to continue building progress at home. Important Notes I only use positive reinforcement methods—no prong collars, e-collars, or check chains. Please bring soft, high-value food rewards your dog loves (such as chicken, sausage, cheese cut into small pieces). For your safety, please wear suitable footwear—no thongs or slides

Arriving on Time • Please aim to arrive a few minutes early so we can start promptly. • Sessions will finish at the scheduled time even if you arrive late, as other clients may be booked immediately afterwards. Health and Safety • Please let me know if your dog or anyone in your household is unwell or has a contagious condition (canine or human!). • Safety for both people and dogs is my top priority — if conditions are unsafe to proceed, I reserve the right to end a session early or reschedule. Consistency and Progress • Training works best with regular attendance and ongoing practice between sessions. • I’ll provide written notes or homework sheets so you can continue working on your dog’s skills at home.
